Scoots Martin was the classic definition of a newspaperman. His career spanned three decades.
He began as a stringer covering the House of Un-American Activities and eventually worked his way up to the correspondence desk where he was known for his brash methods, unorthodox style, and unfashionable pencil-thin neckties. He was banished to the sports pages after his controversial coverage of the California Governor’s race between Timothy Leary and Ronald Reagan, but soon went independent to continue his political coverage.
For many years he was reduced to a byline in unreputable underground newspapers, the most notorious being The Denver Roast, which hit its zenith of popularity during the last years of the Vietnam conflict. Circulation collapsed after the American pull-out and Scoots was able to claw his way back into the establishment press by focusing on consumer fraud and police corruption.
He made a number of powerful enemies during his career and his death in 1986 occurred under suspicious circumstances. He left behind a trove of unpublished material on the supernatural and occult, most of which has been secreted to an undisclosed location where it is undergoing meticulous scrutiny before publication.
Due to breakthroughs in seance technologies made possible by supercomputing, Scoots is available to communicate with you from beyond the grave, should you wish to reach out to him via the contact page. Since there isn’t much to do in the astral world and there are no coffee or cigarettes, he would love to hear from you.
