THE TEMPLE OF BIGEH, PAR AYLWARD M. BLACKMAN, LE CAIRE IMPRIMERIE DE L’INSTITUT FRANÇAIS, D’ARCHÉOLOGIE ORIENTALE, 1915, 176 pages.
This book contains amazing black and white photos of the Temple at Bigeh, taken back when photography was a chemical process. There are several reliefs depicting Sekhmet, which are the subject of this post. By interpretation, it is evident that Sekhmet is being called the Lady of the Flame. One of her many monikers.
Despite the fact that World War One was raging on, the author received permission of the owner of these photographs, the Königlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Berlin to publish in 1915.
